(Grades K-12)
Great cooking and baking is about more than reading a recipe or watching a video — it’s about learning techniques and skills. This class will inspire students to try new foods, learn new skills and techniques, and develop confidence in the kitchen. Whether cooking or baking, students will learn that preparing their own food allows them to control ingredients, possible allergens, and nutrition.
Every week, we will create delicious food and develop confidence and appreciation for sharing through hospitality. We will also engage in fun, hands-on experiments to help us understand the how and why behind our cooking and baking. Have you ever wondered why we use different leaveners in baking or why we add salt to our sweet recipes? Let’s find out together!
We will cover recipes and themes such as regional, holiday fare, international, healthy cooking and baking, etc. Students will eat what they cook!

Learning Objectives:
Culinary Arts – Advanced Techniques
(Grades 6-12)
Whether a novice or an expert, this class is designed to take cooking skills to the next level and develop confidence in the kitchen. Come learn the hows and whys behind techniques and classic recipes – all hands-on and step-by-step.
Our classes will cover timeless culinary skills such as croissant and pastry-making, homemade pasta and gnocchi, sourdough starters and bread-making, crème brûlée, the perfect roast chicken and pan-seared steak, risotto, perfecting classic cakes, fool-proof meringue pies and tarts, classic sauces, soufflé, and much, much more! Students will participate in choosing the recipes we learn in class. And we eat what we make!
